all bravado, bone, skin left hanging with age, life.

You never so much as frowned.

You are fortitude, intelligence and grace.

I can only hope to capture an ounce of you in my lifetime.

You told me you were 93.

I swear I lost my breath for the wonder of you and the honour I felt because you graced my life.

I want to be as beautiful as you are.

The Loss of a Loved One, it fails to be defined by words by anyone.  

     When my father died, the way in which he died was consistent with the way in which he lived his life, his stamina, his persistent and stubborn spirit. He fought hard and I could almost hear him cursing the disease itself and the annoyance of all the inadequacies that he had to deal with on his journey away from us. He was so in love with my Mom, this alone must have driven him to distraction.  

 His fatherly power that held us all in our place went ignored by the fates. Like all fathers' of his time, a fish out of emotional water, he nevertheless was the best of Dads' simply because he was 'ours'.... imperfections included.

 I had a difficult time accepting the exchange of power, once there was Dad and then there wasn't.  He was a power unto himself for the entirety...

     The little fellow is all of five years old, he's brown haired with serious hooded hazel eyes, a flat-line mood in his smile... I think he's suspicious of the world that surrounds him.  One thing I do know, that he knows, is that there is no greater joy than to push that circular red felt button on the Yankee Doodle Duck's bright yellow webbed foot. 
No, you haven't entered the Twilight Zone where that evil boy will wish you into the cornfield, you have entered my domain of greeting cards and unique gift ware. 
Every Thursday I witness the boy's frantic arrival at my door, he knows what he wants and where to get it and he's going for it, so Caregiver lady.. let it be. I walk down the aisle beside him and encourage his destiny. He's so bent upon his mission that he barely acknowledges my presence. When I ask him if he's missed the ducks, he nods... that's it, that's all he has to say. I don't press it.

Late evening, in the city of Ottawa, one male, black and white cat, 
approximately two years old and identified as Edward (Eddie Spaghetti) Jarrett, 
was discovered chewing on a piece of Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum... foil wrapper 
included. There are no official statements being issued by Eddie Jarrett, as 
his teeth are gooey and his black cat lips are slimy and he 'acks' a lot.                                                                         An over powering scent of sweetened fruit mingled with tuna flavoured Meow Mix, 
Anti-Hairball flavour was detected at the scene.

There has been growing concern regarding the matted appearance of this male 
cat's jaws and whisker...
